About Pura

Plastic Tree formed in 1994. Their original lineup was only slightly different than it is now--the only position that has had multiple members is drummer. Takashi was the original drummer in 1994. Their first album was an EP called Strange Fruits.

Their sound reminds me a whole lot of Radiohead, unrelated to the name similarity, which according to them was a coincidence. Early on, their music took a lot of inspiration from UK punk music, especially with Puppet Show (1998), but later mellowed out a bit. Whatever the songs are about, they usually carry a melancholy air to them that makes you go, "oh, that's pura alright".
